If you’ve noticed signs of hearing loss, don’t worry – you’re experiencing what as many as 50 million Americans deal with on a daily basis, as 1 in 5 Americans ages 12 and older suffer from some sort of hearing loss. Choosing to be proactive about your hearing can be challenging; many find the decision to purchase hearing aids as rather difficult. It can be hard for some to accept that help is needed, but overall, the benefits are worth it:
Better job performance
Hearing loss can impact all aspects of your life, from personal to professional. If you’re struggling with hearing clearly, it makes sense that this will impact your job in a negative manner. It can slow you down, frustrate your coworkers and/or employer, and affect your ability to perform if you operate machinery or other equipment/supplies. With the proper treatment, your mood and overall work performance will increase. Who knows, it may even lead to a raise and/or promotion!
A decrease in cognitive decline
If hearing loss goes untreated for too long, it increases your chances of developing dementia and reduces your cognitive functioning. Hearing aids assist your ability to hear AND decrease atrophy in the auditory sections of your brain (making the understanding of speech easier).
It helps decrease tinnitus
This symptom is best described as high pitched ringing or clicking, and can be accompanied by hearing loss. Hearing aids, however, can reduce the annoyance of these sounds, making your quality of life much better.
Chances are, you’ll be satisfied
According to medical studies, 91% of patients experiencing hearing loss are satisfied with their hearing aids and 90% admitted they would recommend them to a friend experiencing the same issues.
You’ll be happier
With a better quality of life in all areas, perhaps this is the most important benefit received from hearing aids!
