Auditory rehabilitation
Adjusting to new hearing, with a plan made for you
Our team creates a personalized rehabilitation plan for your listening needs, including LACE auditory training. LACE is included in all of our retail hearing aid treatment programs, and we can also discuss training for people who struggle with conversation in noise despite a normal standard hearing test.

What it is
Practice for everyday listening
Auditory rehabilitation combines listening practice and communication strategies with support from our team. It can help you work on the situations you find difficult, whether you are adjusting to hearing technology or struggling to follow conversation in background noise.
Who it’s for
Who a rehabilitation plan can help
Adjusting to hearing aids
A plan to help you adjust to your new hearing aids.
Adjusting to a cochlear implant
A plan to help you adjust to your implant, with counseling during the auditory rehabilitation period.
Difficulty in noise despite a normal test
A standard hearing test can look normal even when following conversation in restaurants is difficult. This is sometimes described as “hidden hearing loss.” Our team can assess your listening needs and discuss LACE as an initial training option.

LACE auditory training
LACE: Listening and Communication Enhancement
LACE is an auditory training program with structured exercises for understanding speech in background noise, following fast talkers, and retaining spoken information. You practice at home, with a plan guided by our team.
Speech in noisy places
Training focused on understanding speech, particularly in noisy environments.
Fast speech and auditory memory
Practice following fast talkers and remembering spoken information, such as details from a conversation.
Part of your plan
LACE comes standard with every retail hearing aid treatment program. Hearing aids provide prescribed amplification; LACE adds structured listening practice to help you make use of that sound. Think of it as auditory physical therapy that complements your hearing aids.
Ongoing care
Support that continues
Follow-up care is part of how we work, because we believe in creating connections with our patients.
Follow-up care
Ongoing care from our Doctor of Audiology and Hearing Instrument Specialists.
Professional cleanings
We schedule and welcome you back every four months for a professional deep clean to help keep your hearing aids working well.
A hearing review every year
We reevaluate your hearing once a year. Hearing can change over time; if your hearing levels have changed, we adjust your hearing aids to match your updated prescription.
It is an honor to care for you and your hearing for years to come.
Dr. Lesley Kirby, Au.D.
